A few examples of my thinking and approach to Instructional Design.

Project

The Dungeon of Keys

Background

Problem:
Traditional teaching methods for Graph Editor skills rely on passive learning, limiting student engagement and deeper understanding.

Challenge:

Students struggle to understand and apply Graph Editor concepts, finding them technical, abstract, and disengaging in traditional learning formats.

Solution:

Dungeon of Keys turns learning into an interactive game, using a narrative and progressive challenges to help students build skills in graph editing, motion analysis, and animation principles through hands-on exploration and feedback.

Octalysis Framework

Background

Problem:

Traditional course content can feel overwhelming and disconnected from students’ everyday learning habits, reducing retention and engagement.

Challenge:

Students struggle to retain and apply key concepts when information is delivered in large, dense formats rather than in manageable, relevant moments.

Solution:

Microlearning uses short, social media-style content to deliver focused, bite-sized lessons that align with students’ digital behaviors, helping them quickly absorb, apply, and reinforce skills through frequent, engaging interactions.

Project

From Grimm to Disney

Background

Problem:

Traditional syllabi rely heavily on visual formats, creating accessibility barriers for students with visual impairments.

Challenge:

Students need a way to understand course structure, expectations, and workflows without relying on visual cues, while still staying engaged and oriented.

Solution:

The From Grimms to Disney audio drama syllabus delivers course content through an immersive, narrative-driven audio experience, enabling students to access, understand, and navigate the course through structured storytelling and auditory cues.

AI and Critical Thinking

Background

Problem:

Traditional feedback models often provide direct answers, limiting opportunities for students to develop independent critical thinking skills.

Challenge:

Instructors need effective ways to use AI without reducing learning, ensuring it supports reflection, aligns with industry standards, and enhances—not replaces—student thinking.

Solution:

This approach uses AI as a “thought partner” through structured prompting and feedback loops that mirror student thinking, helping learners reflect, refine their ideas, and develop deeper critical thinking aligned with professional practice.
